Information about the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand in 2011 and beyond...
The first Rugby World Cup was held in New Zealand in 1987 and won by the All Blacks. The current Cup holders are the South African Springboks who beat England in the 2007 final in Paris, France.
The next Rugby World Cup will held in New Zealand in 2011.
The final will be played in Auckland on Saturday 22nd or Sunday October 23, 2011, at Eden Park. The semi finals will also be in Auckland on 15th and 16th October 2011. The 2011 Rugby World Cup will be contested by 20 teams.
Host countries for the 2015 and perhaps 2019 events are to be decided soon. Likely contenders are England/Wales, South Africa and Japan.

Bidding is currently under way for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. It is likely that the host Countries for the 2015 and perhaps 2019 event will be announced at the same time, possibly late in 2008 or early in 2009.
