SEVENS RUGBY WORLD CUP DUBAI 2009
The Rugby Sevens World Cup will be held in Dubai from 5-7 March 2009.
A new state of the art rugby stadium is being built to host the tournament. It will be the first Rugby World Cup to have both a mens and womens competition. 24 mens teams and 16 womens teams will compete.

More than 500 million TV viewers are expected to watch. Around 120,000 people are expected at the actual games for the 3 days.

It is possible that 2009 will be the last Rugby World Cup Sevens Tournament held. Playing pressure on teams and the possible inclusion as an Olympic event mean that this may replace the World Cup for Sevens. Read a full Hong Kong Standard article about this here. However, as Sevens Rugby has now been excluded as an event in the 2012 Olympics, perhaps there will be as Sevens Rugby World Cup in 2013 after all?
